Detention for Luna

Kaede sat at the desk as usual, waiting for Luna to come to the detention. She was surprised at the discovery that she was a vampire, but she wasn't going to judge the girl because of it. She knew what it was like to be judged for something that couldn't be helped.

She looked up once the door opened a few inches.

Luna walked into the room. She was glad that her punishment wasn't anything to serious, and she had earnt some house points. She went in and sat down at the desk, wondering what she would have to do.

"Hello Luna," Kaede said as she saw the girl enter the room, "Now, as you can imagine...This is a detention so it wont be exciting. Marnie has many old cauldrons that need cleaning, so get to work," She said and pointed over to the back of the room where a variety of burnt and slimy pewter cauldrons sat. There was a bucket of soapy water, and another which had clean water, along with two brushes. "Of course...Magic isn't allowed." Kaede added and smiled before writing a big red 'T' on an essay she had been marking.

Luna walked over to the cauldrons. They were really filthy. She couldn't imagine how stupid people could be in getting their potions so wrong to cause such mess. She picked up one of the brushes and began to scrub. It took a while to clean each cauldron, except for the plain dusty ones. She wondered if they would be left in a cupboard for a detention in a few years time. The water Luna was using turned black with the filth.

"Just tell me when you need a refill of water," The headmistress said after some time had passed. She had gotten through some of the work she was marking, but at the same time, she was thinking of another piece to set. She hadn't really given out much work for her class to do.

"You may go once you finish the ones over there," She said and pointed to five or so cauldrons laying near where Luna was working with the current one, "And don't tell any of the professors that I let you go early or they'll have a field day. Especially seeing as I am supposed to be the Headmistress" She added with a smile before peering down at some scrawl on a very ragged and a hole-covered piece of parchment. Her student wasn't kidding when he said the plant had tried to eat his homework in the herbology greenhouse. She could even see the hot venom still slowly burning the paper away around the edges of the holes.

Luna was thankful that she would be able to leave early once she had finished the last few cauldrons. She asked for a refill of clean water and began to scrub at the last few. These seemed a lot more messy than the others, but the prospect of leaving early meant that she scrubbed even harder. Soon she had finished. "Can i leave now professor?" she asked

Kaede looked up and quickly glanced at the sparkling clean cauldrons piled up in the corner. "Yes you may Luna," She replied and smiled before packing up her things. She walked over to the door, and with one free finger, opened it. "I'll see you in my lesson," She said quickly before rushing off to her office before she spilled everything out on the floor.

Luna left the room behind the headmistress, but she had already left the corridor when the professor dropped her stuff. Luna went back to the common room as it was quite late, and she was tired after all the scrubbing.
